Ours is of a different color but... it's a battery-powered hamster that makes cute sounds if you touch her nose and makes cute sounds and runs in a random pattern if you touch a certain spot on her back - make sure it does not run on a table because it's likely to fall.
For some reason, little girls up to 8 years old love this toy. In fact, my 7 yr. old is crazy about it - she saw one at a friends of hers and she begged me to get hers, counting the days until delivery. Now, that she has her own Zhu Zhu, she's happy and this is all that matters.

Bought this for my next door neighbor for Christmas. It reacts to the music and sounds from her computer and ipod. She just happens to be 66 years old, and totally okay in her mind. But there's a child in all of us, and this Zhu Zhu is precious and always brings a smile to my face even to think of it. She still keeps it next to her computer and says that, although she doesn't always think about it, as soon as there is appropriate sound from the computer, it makes her smile when it begins to move. Can't beat something that makes us smile!

The Zhu Zhu Pets may not be educational, but my daughter really loves these and they are really fun. They are much better on hardwood than on carpet. Try not to let them get hair or fibers in those spinning wheels. These are really cute and I don't know one kid that doesn't like them. My daughter's friends and cousins are all very absorbed in them when they play with them.
Also, since I couldn't find this information prior to buying one, I thought I'd share this: you CAN change the batteries. You need a screwdriver to open the compartment on their underside and replace the battery when a Zhu Zhu is getting "sluggish" or just won't turn on anymore.

My 2 grand-daughters loved these Lil Hamsters. Had to get some more. They go all around, make noise and are cute.

Over rated one time toy that had it's day in the sun and with in two weeks resided somewhere in the depths of a child's closet forgotten.
